OUR PROGRAM
In the past ten years Gonzalo and Maria Teresa has immersed in rural communities having the opportunity to learn about the true living conditions of the children and their families, making it possible to establish their more urgent needs, especially for the poorest, and making possible to stablish a program for helping people to break the poverty circle.

The program is based in three main areas: SOCIAL WORK, EDUCATION and CULTURE.

Many children lacks of an adequate nourrishment, must work or someone in the family consider that education is not important. The first step is to help families to improve the living conditions of the children and to make possible that they assist to school, in order to avoid that become street children.

They found many shortfalls in the rural schools and lovely kids anxious for an opportunity to learn. When VDO started to work in a rural area near 90% of the primary schools they visited did not have any computers and children never had an English language class, something necessary to enter secondary school. The second step is to increase the level of the education with additional resources and the important help of volunteers.

But this is not enough. Children from rural and suburban areas continue isolated and with less opportunities even after some years of secondary school. To find a good job in the City or to go to the University is still a remote possibility. Our third step is to improve the cultural level of children and young. In tghis way they will have the enough skills and courage to look for better, really better living conditions.

TAITAKUNA is the program created for improving the living conditions working in the social area and works as an sponsoship program in which eack child receives direct help from the sponsor.

THE COMPUTERS CENTRES and direct help to schools is the way to improve the educational level.

THE CHILDRENS' LIBRARY is the center of all the cultural activities.

The Volunteer Program makes possible to bring the necessary volunteers to work in all this areas. But volunteers work dont finish when leaving the projects. After returning home former volunteers continue helping in finding resources, sponsors and more volunteers.
