Great News: We are back in Mocha!

As with many other small rural schools, the school in el Porvenir was closed in 2014 and the children were sent to a big school in the town of Mocha. The Government spent large amounts of money on construction and equipment but some time after this the teachers decided that they were not sufficiently trained to teach English language and Computers skills.

The main activity of the Library continues to be reading and borrowing of books, group story reading and preparation of a drama based on the stories. For this purpose and according the budget supported by AFET Maria Teresa bought a good number of books that children are much enjoying.

The help to secondary school students is having great results

Gladys, a 18 years old Ecuadorian girl has been receiving support from our programs since she was 7 and has always worked hard and in this last year in secondary school she has giving us great satisfactions. Ten years ago it was impossible for her family to think of sending her and her siblings to the secondary school, just to the primary and then they had to work in the land. Today for these children things have improved immeasurably.

The Christmas Card drawing contest a big success

This year one of the main events for children was the drawing contest for the Christmas card, in June. In the contest participated 35 children with great enthusiasm. Ten best drawings was choosed by us and sent to England where Adrienne Finch and AFET members did the final election.

Good news from children and families

In the school year that finished in July nearly all children of the group received good marks and approved the year. Some had problems with Maths and English language but with an special course during vacation they approved the year.
